Keterangan luar Anggota Peneliti M. ISKANDAR DZULQARNAIN SULTON ARIFIN Abstrak Abstract Interference is one of the factors that can undermine a language system. Generally, interference often occurs in the language learning process. The interference is caused by a tendency to accustom the pronunciation of one language to another. Its scope includes changes in sound form, grammar, sentence structure, and vocabulary. Nurul Jadid Islamic boarding school is one of the boarding schools that develops foreign language skills as an attempt to prepare young people to be able to compete in the global world. In fact, the language learners (santri) still often mix the structure of their first language into foreign languages to communicate. Therefore, this study aims to identify the grammatical interference in the foreign language communication of Nurul Jadid students, and what factors behind them. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The results show that the form of interference in Nurul Jadid students’ communication is in the form of morphological and syntactical structures. Besides, these interferences are caused by several factors; they are learners’ bilingualism, language loyalty, synonymy necessity, and the learner’s habit in using their first language. This research is expected to provide information to language teachers so that they can find learning innovations that can improve the quality of foreign language skills of Nurul Jadid's students.

Early childhood students must learn English early to prepare them for the era of globalization. There are four problem formulations studied, namely about 1) the qualifications of English teachers, 2) students' attitudes towards English, 3) the techniques used, and 4) the media. This study used a qualitative descriptive design. The research subjects consisted of a teacher and 26 fifth-grade students (V) of MI Azzainiyah II Paiton Probolinggo. There are three data collection instruments, namely observation, interviews, and questionnaires. Observations are made when teaching and learning activities are in progress. After that, interviews with teachers were conducted to obtain information related to problem formulations. The questionnaire was given to students to find out students' attitudes towards English. The results showed that 1) the qualifications of the English teachers had good qualifications, 2) the students' attitudes towards English were very positive, 3) the techniques used were varied, including Listen-Do, Listen-Repeat, and Question and Answer, and 4) media that used in the form of pictures from various sources as well as blackboards.
8	MOHAMMAD SOFYAN ADI PRANATA	The Effectiveness Of Ice Breaking To Increase Students’ Motivation In Learning English	Mandiri PT	2021	Detail Penelitian Kolaborasi Judul The Effectiveness Of Ice Breaking To Increase Students’ Motivation In Learning English Sumber dana Mandiri PT Dana 6.800.000 Ketua Peneliti MOHAMMAD SOFYAN ADI PRANATA Keterangan luar Anggota Peneliti RISKA AYU SUSANTI Abstrak This study was generally attempted to find the effect of ice breaking to increase students' motivation in English learning at the first grade of SMP Nurul Jadid. This research used pre-experimental design by using one shot case study pre-test and post-test. Before the treatment, the researcher gave the pre-test in one class. Moreover, the researcher taught English by using ice breaking in the experimental class. The last, the researcher conducted the post-test to know whether an ice breaking was effective for teaching English in experimental class. Based on the data analysis, the data t-test (2.77) was higher than t-table value (2.042). The result analyzing showed that there was significant difference on the students’ motivation taught by using ice breaker. The students’ mean score of the pre-test of the experiment class was 60. Then, in the post-test, the mean score of experiment class was 66.1. Therefore, hypothesis H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. It concluded that ice breaking was effective in teaching English learning toward the students’ motivation for the first grade of SMP Nurul Jadid. Thus, this research make students be enjoy, be active, energize, feeling happiness, interactive in the classroom, stay in the class during learning process, and focus on the material.

The quality of human resources is certainly very relevant to students' interest in reading. Reading habits are not only related to the teaching and learning process, but also can shape the personality of an individual by living the reading results. The research aims to study the process of reading habits and reading preferences favored by students. The research method used was a descriptive survey involving 45 students of non-English students in Az-Zainiyah Nurul Jadid. In obtaining data to find out the problems faced by students in understanding English reading texts, a questionnaire was used relating to reading habits and reading preferences. The findings from this study are expected to be used as an evaluation material that reading skills also need to be introduced further to students so that they can use them in the reading process.

Keterangan luar Anggota Peneliti FADLI FAISAL RAHMAN Abstrak Some English learners might be very good at speaking English but not optimal in writing English, and vice versa. However, there were also some English learners who have almost the same score between writing and speaking skills. As fellow productive language skills, researching the relationship between writing skills and speaking skills will be very interesting. Based on the phenomena that exist in the field when reviewing the results of foreign language skills, especially English, the researchers tried to map the relationship between writing skills and speaking skills in English owned by learners, especially English learners in universities. It became very interesting to reveal the relationship between two different English skills through research with a correlation research design. This research was conducted with the aim of knowing the correlation between English writing skills and English speaking skills possessed by students. The design of this research is correlation research. The subjects of this study were 49 fifth semester students of the English Education Study Program, Nurul Jadid University, Probolinggo, in the 2021-2022 academic year. In the fifth semester the students took advanced writing courses and advanced speaking courses. From the results of the calculation of correlation analysis could be revealed that the correlation coefficient (rxy) is 0.0776. With an alpha value between 0.05 and 0.95, the t-table value is 1.6779, and the t-count value was 0.5338. From the results of this study, it could be stated that English writing skills and English speaking skills possessed by students had a very weak positive correlation. In other words, it could be stated that the higher the value of writing skills, the higher the value of students' English speaking skills with a very weak correlation.

Most people learning languages, especially English, must use vocabulary properly and correctly both in writing and in writing which makes the way of speaking more accurate. FLDI is an institution that specializes in the field of language, namely Arabic and English. This institution stimulates and develops the interest of language enthusiasts, both Arabic and English, researchers will see the extent to which the vocabulary mastery process is trained, studied, and practiced in language skills at the FLDI in the Al-Hasyimiyah Pondok area. Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School. The research was carried out from 20 June to 20 August 2021. This research is qualitative research whose type of research is a case study research on the method of learning English vocabulary in the field. The method of collecting data in the field in this research is using test techniques (giving material tests), interviews, and observations. The subjects in this study were teachers and students of the Institute for Foreign Language Development (FLDI), which consisted of 2 teachers teaching vocabulary lessons (Vocabulary) and 20 students with different classes in Elementary (basic) classes.

Keterangan luar Anggota Peneliti ERIL SINTA NURIYAH ROFIAH Abstrak Madrasah Aliyah Nurul Jadid, sebagaimana sekolah menengah lainnya di Pesantren Nurul Jadid, mempraktikkan paradigma lama pengelolaan limbah padat dalam semua fase-nya, yaitu: mengumpulkan, mengangkut, membuang atau membuang sampah di tempat pembuangan sampah yang tersedia. TPA, sebenarnya, menghadapi limpahan. Desain yang cocok untuk manajemen limbah nol otonom perlu untuk diatasi. Melalui penelitian dan pengembangan (R & D) desain, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan praktik pengelolaan limbah yang ada, dan mengusulkan desain yang sesuai untuk implementasi maagement limbah nol otonom di MA Nurul Jadid. Sebagai hasil penelitian, proposal tersebut mencakup desain yang sesuai mengenai institusi, operasi, partisipasi, peraturan, dan pendanaan.

The main instrument in this study the researcher himself in doing his analysis supported by using documentary technique. The data that had been collected were analyzed by the researcher himself. After analyzing the data, then the researcher drew the conclusion about the types and the function of deixis in the sentences of the newspaper articles. Based on the discussion findings, there were four types of deixis found in The Jakarta Post article, namely 19 person deixis, 29 spatial deixis , 59 time deixis, 55 discourse deixis. From the analysis, the most types of deixis found in Jakarta Post articles time deixis. Thus, it can be said that The Jakarta Post tends to use time deixis as the dominant type compound than another.
